Support Worker

Who are we:  Since 1988, Everton in the Community has become a dynamic force for good, harnessing the unifying power of football to drive social change and addressing societal challenges across Liverpool City Region. Supported by a team of over 130 full-time staff and over 200 volunteers, the independently governed and independently financed charity offers an extensive array of more than 60 programmes and initiatives that tackle a diverse range of social issues. These programmes cover areas such as health, employability, anti-social behaviour, crime, exploitation, education, dementia, and disability.   

   

Everton in the Community stands firmly beside the most at-risk and most in need members of its local communities, but the needs of the city are ever-growing and ever evolving.   

   

About the opportunity: Everton in the Community is seeking to appoint a Support Worker to manage a caseload of young people, devising a support plan tailored to meet each individual’s needs. As a Support Worker you will provide 1-1 mentoring, targeted workshops and a range of activities that support four primary areas: Physical, Social, Emotional, and Educational. 

  

You will collaborate holistically with families and relevant partners, assessing their needs, providing necessary support, and empowering them to overcome the challenges they face. 

   

Other key responsibilities will include:    

   

  • Supporting the Senior Co-Ordinator to ensure that young people are recruited onto the programme 

  • To complete and translate initial risk assessments into effective and innovative support plans with robust monitoring and evaluation systems in place 

  • Delivering interventions appropriate to the individuals needs and identified risk, protective factors, both during referral and throughout their time on the programme 

  • Delivering 1-1 personalised mentoring support and undergo periodic programme assessments  

  • Delivery of small, targeted group work, raising awareness of various topics 

 

 

   

Safeguarding     

  • To understand the Club’s Safeguarding policy, procedures, and best practice guidelines.      

  • To use this understanding to ensure safe working practices, appropriate reporting of concerns and contribute positively to an Anti-bullying environment.     

  • Ensure Safeguarding and Healthy and Safety Processes are implemented in line with Everton in the Community guidelines 

    

Who we are looking for: We are looking for an individual who has experience of working with young people who display challenging behavior and have or are at risk of being criminally exploited.   

  

Our successful candidate will also demonstrate the following skills, knowledge and experience:  

  

  • VRQ/NVQ Level 2 in Youth Work or other relevant qualification/experience in youth or community work 

  • BA Honours Degree in a relevant subject area (or equivalent)  

  • Relevant Mentoring qualifications 

  • Experience of delivering in schools and educational establishments 

  • Solid experience of 1-to-1 support work with young people; to include assessment, intervention planning and deliver of action plans 

  • Knowledge of policy and procedures relating to working with young people  

  • A track record planning, organising, and overseeing youth/community led initiatives 

  • To have an approachable, caring, friendly and helpful nature with a good personality 

  • A good understanding of confidentiality and maintaining boundaries when working with young people 

  • Flexible approach to working unsociable hours (evenings and weekends) as

This position will be offered on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract, with the role being based across our Everton in the Community campus.
