Building excellent relationships with consultants and patients is an important part of the role, supporting the theatres team and promoting best practice in all areas of regulatory compliance. The Opportunity

Location: The Cadogan Clinic, Sloane Street, Chelsea, London
Salary: £36,000-£38,000 + shift enhancements & benefits (OTE £45,000)
Contract: Full-time 40 hours, flexible shifts over 5 days Monday to Sunday
Key Responsibilities:
Surgical Assistance & Theatre Preparation:
- Assist the surgical team during procedures.
- Prepare and set up theatres efficiently in a systematic manner.
- Scrub and circulate for surgeons, ensuring adherence to theatre protocols.
- Communicate patient updates to the medical team.
- Ensure proper infection control procedures are followed.
- Prepare patients for transfer to recovery or their individual rooms.
Patient Safety & Care:
- Monitor and assess patients throughout surgical procedures.
- Provide compassionate care and create a positive environment for patients and their families.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient documentation in line with clinic policies.
- Consider patient history, age, and health status in all care decisions.
Surgical Equipment Management:
- Operate surgical equipment safely and effectively.
- Ensure all instruments are sterile, functional, and available as needed.
- Complete instrument counts accurately.
- Follow decontamination processes and maintain proper infection control.
- Restock supplies and monitor surgical inventory levels.
- Handle the delivery and distribution of medical gas cylinders.
Departmental Support & Teamwork:
- Work flexibly across theatres as part of the Scrub Team.
- Support theatre leads in ensuring smooth and timely surgical operations.
- Assist in maintaining and improving clinical standards.
- Participate in training, emergency drills, and resuscitation training.
- Adhere to clinic policies, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Professional Development & Compliance:
- Take ownership of personal and professional development.
- Stay updated on best clinical practices and research.
- Understand and meet NMC revalidation requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Engage in continuing education programs and training opportunities.
This role requires a dedicated and detail-oriented professional who is passionate about patient care and committed to maintaining the highest standards in surgical nursing.
Essential Experience
- 1+ year experience in a scrub nurse role in the UK
- 6+ months experience on a PACU ward.
- Registered to practice in the UK with valid NMC pin.
- Positive, flexible, self-motivated, and enthusiastic
- Excellent communication skills
- Attention to detail with foresight
- Basic understanding of patient care in day case surgery
