Residential Support Worker (Waking Nights) 


Salary: Up to £28,000 per annum (depending on qualification and experience)  


Location: Telford 


Contract/Hours: Permanent/Full Time (37 hours per week)

A bit about the role 


We’re looking for a dedicated Residential Support Worker for waking nights to join our team at a brand-new residential home in Telford.  In this role you’ll provide essential support to children with physical and mental disability throughout the night, ensuring their safety and wellbeing. Responsibilities include assisting with any night-time needs including personal care, preparing paperwork for the next shift team, ironing uniforms and completing house chores.  If your passionate and committed to making a difference, we’d love to hear from you.


A residential support workers will work within a team that provides person centred care and tailored support to each child meeting their individual needs in accordance with care plan you will also ensure that policies in the central standards or quality and safety or achieved. 


About the service 


Acorn Way is an exciting new residential care home providing accommodation and support for children and young people between the age of 5-18 years of both physical and learning disabilities. 


The new home will provide warm caring uncomfortable environment where our young people will feel safe and free to gain a sense of their own self.  Supported in developing skills and achieve maximum quality of life.     


How you'll help to create brighter futures
 



  • Provide lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing and managing risk

  • Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports

  • Attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc.

  • Lead shifts with the primary aim of the provision of a high-quality service

  • Supervise and guide staff as required, in accordance with Action for Children policies and procedures

  • Lead by example with the application of Action for Children's policy procedures and professional practice standards and in line with registration requirements.

Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We are looking for someone with a ‘can do’ attitude to join our team. Ideally you will have: 



  • Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust 

  • Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families 

  • Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting 

  • Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role 

  • Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) or if you do not possess this you must be prepared to complete this within 2 years of commencing employment with us, full support will be provided.
