Ranworth Surgery has a fantastic opportunity for a healthcare assistant and phlebotomist to join the practice, to support the nursing team, on a part-time basis, for 26.5 hours per week, spilt between 19 hours phlebotomy & 7.5 hours HCA duties.
 
You will be assisting in the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population.
 
Main duties include:
  • Undertaking new patient health checks.
  • Supporting the practice nurse with health promotion programmes.
  • Carrying out baseline observations.
  • Carry out annual HCA diabetic checks in line with guidance
  • Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly.
  • Supporting the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics.
  • Carrying out BMI checks.
  • Acting as a chaperone.
  • Undertaking venepuncture & administer flu, B12, pneumonia & shingles vaccinations, when trained.
  • Carrying out ECGs as requested.
  • Ensuring all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
  • Delivering opportunistic health promotion where appropriate.
  • Managing smoking cessation advice for patients (level 2).
  • Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms.
  • Anti-coagulation monitoring and INR point of care testing.
  • 24 hour ECG monitoring.
  • Undertaking NHS health checks.

About the Candidate
If you are a qualified and experienced healthcare assistant/phlebotomist looking for a fresh and exciting challenge, we would love to hear from you. You will have the following skills and qualifications:
 
Essential - these are a requirement to be considered for the role:
  • Successful completion of the Care Certificate, or willingness to undertake, as indicated by the CQC.
  • Level 3/4 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
  • Strong clinical skills.
  • Experience within primary care or another healthcare setting.
  • Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Consistently confidential manner, as well as a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
Desirable:
  • A qualification in phlebotomy/venepuncture & ear syringing.
  • Experience of working within a GP practice.
