Ambrose Avenue Group Practice, based in Colchester, have a fantastic opportunity for a healthcare assistant to join their busy team on a full-time basis. This friendly, innovative and progressive surgery are keen to find an individual who has a compassionate attitude to patient care and shows initiative and willingness to their career development. 

Working under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse, and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, you will assist the clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
 
The healthcare assistant will be able to 
  • Provide general and specific screening to practice patients.
  • Assist with managing and developing care programmes for individual patients within specific long term condition group.
  • Participate in quality audit initiatives, enhanced services and vaccinations, to include in annual home visits for housebound patients.
  • Plan and implement health campaigns.
  • Carry out immunisations, chronic disease management, e.g. diabetes.
  • Give advice on healthy living.
  • General clinical work including; wound care, ear syringing, recording blood pressures, phlebotomy.
You will work alongside our practice nurses, HCAs, GPs, ANPs, pharmacist, and other healthcare professional within our primary care network. The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience, skills and competence, requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
 
About the Candidate
If you are a qualified and experienced healthcare assistant looking for a fresh and exciting challenge, we would love to hear from you. You will have the following skills and qualifications:
 
Essential:
  • Successful completion of the Care Certificate, or willingness to undertake, as indicated by the CQC.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
  • Experience of working within a GP practice.
  • Strong clinical skills.
  • Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Consistently confidential manner, as well as a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

Ambrose Avenue Group are a friendly, innovative and progressive GP surgery providing services to a diverse population in Colchester. They are a training practice and offer services to a population of over 15,000 patients across two sites (Ambrose Avenue and Tollgate), located in Colchester.
