The Role:

Here at Homewood we provide residential services for adults with learning disabilities. As a Care Assistant you’ll play a key role in delivering personalised physical and emotional care to our residents. You’ll provide personal care and will support residents to engage in a variety of meaningful activities, both within our facilities and out in the community. You’ll ensure a high standard of hygiene and safety, so people are comfortable and secure during their stay with us.   




Each resident who stays with us is unique with their own individual physical, mental, social and emotional needs. You will assist them with daily activities such as helping them with eating and drinking, providing personal care, accompanying them on day trips, and facilitating communication. You’ll enjoy this diversity and use your person-centred approach to focus on their strengths, promote their independence, and tailor your support to meet their specific needs.

You may already have experience of enabling or providing care, but it’s not essential. For this vital Care Assistant role, your life experience is just as valuable as work experience. You’ll need strong observational skills to closely monitor mental and physical health, responding quickly and appropriately to verbal and non-verbal signs. The wellbeing and safety of the people who stay with is will be at the forefront of all your decisions and supported by your excellent communication skills.  You’ll be comfortable working independently, assessing and evaluating situations and deciding how to respond.  Most importantly, you’ll demonstrate our core values, showing patience, empathy and compassion. Basic IT skills and accurate information recording skills are also essential.

This role does involve some weekend and bank holiday working, for which enhancements will be paid. The hours you work will be flexible, with a guaranteed minimum 30 hours per year.
