Job Description

Mental Health Support Workers required in Ditchingham, Norfolk

£10 per hour + 25p per mile.
We offer Supported Living to adults recovering following a period of  hospital stay. We support people to be as independent  as possible and to be a part of their local community. We have Full time and Part time roles available.

Duties will include:

  • Ensuring residents understand their tenancy agreements and their rights and responsibilities.
  • Supporting residents to deal with tenancy related matters.
  • Supporting residents to manage their rent accounts and liaising with external agencies , advocates, family members and appointees to ensure that rent accounts are in order and providing support to address any deficits.
  • Dealing with nuisance/ASB issues including liaising with advocates, family, social service, police and other stakeholders
  • Maintaining the security of the accommodation, including control access to the premises, escorting contractors and other visitors to the scheme and ensuring that residents visitors are ‘genuine’ and have a legitimate right to be there.
  • Reporting and co-ordinating communal repairs
  • Assessing the suitability of applicants for the accommodation, completing risk assessments, assisting with viewings, tenancy sign-ups, sign posting tenants with information on how to access appropriate tenancy related services.
  • Promoting resident involvement and consultation events by helping to ensure that residents are kept informed and involved in decisions relating to their accommodation.
  • Supporting residents to improve their cooking skills, house keeping skills and personal shopping skills.
  • Escorting residents to community activities of their choice.
  • Supporting residents to access opportunities for paid/voluntary work and or education.
  • Supporting residents to utilise their coping strategies.
  • Providing opportunities for 1:1 chats.

Previous experience in supporting people with mental health needs is desirable but not essential, as full induction and training is provided. Own transport would be an advantage.
